Why sustainable building? 

Environmentally friendly home improvements can help homes sell faster according to recent surveys, and even if you are improving instead of moving there are many good reasons to consider eco-renovation. At Urbane Building we take a holistic approach to eco-renovation. Ensuring that a building is able to `breathe` as well as improving energy efficiency is key.

Current insulation materials can actually cause hidden condensation problems. The best materials to use are often traditional ones such as lime based products and renders that encourage moisture flow, and real sheep`s wool insulation that naturally prevents condensation. These materials have a low carbon footprint, are non-toxic and sustainable and their manufacture often supports rural economies.

Research also shows that building breathabiity can help create a healthier environment inside the home by reducing the risk of building related illnesses ranging from mild hay fever type allergies to asthma and in the long term can protect your home from structural damage. And with grants widely available to improve energy usage and energy bills likely to drop once the changes have been made there has never been a better time to go green.
